Today’s video features an original piece, There Are Stars, composed by Cantor Jonathan Comisar, an adjunct instructor in the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music. He presented this work at the DFSSM Frederic S. Lane Composers’ Showcase in March. His introduction gives some background about this piece.

We are excited to share that HUC-JIR is a partner on To Bigotry No Sanction, a historic musical performance featuring members of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Cantor Jonathan Comisar composed this magnificent musical work based on George Washington’s historic letter to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport, Rhode Island. Cantor Comisar's new cantata embodies touchstones of Jewish and American music in an orchestral/choral setting. This is a free, prerecorded event, with no registration required.
