British landscape artist Miranda Brookes exhibition at Goldmark Framing. goldmarkart.com

Inspiration and subject matter for her current work reflect the British landscape tradition, especially the watercolours of Turner, Cotman and Constable; their landscape and seascapes. Her local environment of Charnwood has proved to be a significant source for her work and echoes deeper concerns for our natural environment generally.

A combination of art practice and teaching characterise Miranda’s formative and mature years. Individually and as a member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists, she exhibited for many years, in Britain and internationally. Teaching textile art followed from membership and participation with this group, then art teaching more generally. Alongside a growing interest in the needs of young people with multi-sensory impairment and the role of art, she then pursued a lengthy career both as a teacher and academic in the field at schools and universities. Following this wide-ranging involvement, she has now been able to return to the pursuit of her own artwork, involving similar themes to her textile art, but presently and for the foreseeable future, with watercolour and related media.

Additional, significant artistic influences stem from Peter Doig, Jenny Grevatte, Kurt Jackson, Barbara Rae, Eve Quarmby, George Quarmby and Stephanie Tuckwell.
