In Rudyard Kipling's “The Bee-Boy’s song”, the bee-boy comes near to the idea of attentiveness, insisting that we must be open with the bees and tell them everything:
"Marriage, birth or buryin’,
News across the seas,
All you’re sad or merry in,
You must tell the Bees".

Five ways to improve wellbeing can be applied to the study of bees: connect, learn, be active, give, and take notice (be attentive).

And mystical poet Rainer Rilke compares bees to poets:
“It is our task to imprint this temporary, perishable earth into ourselves so deeply, so painfully and passionately, that its essence can rise again ‘invisibly,’ inside us. We are the bees of the invisible. We wildly collect the honey of the visible, to store it in the great golden hive of the invisible.”
