'Woman Holding a Balance' is a filmic portrait of artist David Ward framed by Jyll Bradley's sculpture Dutch/Light at Turner Contemporary, Margate, UK. Filmed over the course of one sun-filled day the work is a meditation on time, light and inter-generational influence between artists. In the film, David enacts a performance work inspired by his interest in the Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) and the enigmatic figures in his paintings. Through his poetic text David reflects upon his work, Bradley's and Vermeer’s.
