Sir John Sorrell, chairman of London Design Festival, has called upon his friends at London’s top cultural institutions to collaborate with some of the world’s most prolific designers to create a ‘Legacy’ piece in American red oak that will be shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, in collaboration with Benchmark Furniture, whose Berkshire workshop will make all the pieces over the summer.

WRITER’S COLLECTION by Sebastian Cox

A writing station incorporating a chair, a desk and a pen holder, all made of red oak, designed by Sebastian Cox for Amanda Nevill, CEO of the British Film Institute. The angled curve of the desk references the perspective lines of the mezzanine at the British Film Institute, where the piece will be installed. The desk features a sliding panel that reveals the pen holder and a paper scroll for writers to sign.
