Drawing upon the history of the Buxton Contemporary site as once a rehearsal and training space for dance, Weaver has installed a barre (used for ballet). This gesture reconceives the museum as a fluid space of potential and ongoing creativity rather than solely a fixed site for finished artwork of fully realised ideas.
As part of this proposition, Weaver invited dancer Michaela Pegum to respond to and activiate her artworks. Pegum improvised a series of movements and gestures, engaging with forms, spaces and aural and visual elements and environments that comprise the exhibition to create a tension between movement and stillness.
