In the first documentary on this topic, six men tell the young director what it would have been like if he had been born just a few years or a few decades earlier. Their perspectives are as individual as their life stories: an East German punk, a gay activist from the church, a free-thinking artist, a closeted gay teacher, an emigrant from Chile and a craftsman from the country all prove one thing: in East Germany, everyone was not the same after all.
