In this second film in 'The Abolitionists' series, we hear about Elizabeth Dawson (1829-1894) and her campaign to fight slavery, efforts which helped lead to the creation of a Ladies Anti-Slavery Society in Wakefield and 1857 and, later, to the establishment of an Anti-Slavery Association open to all.

The film was funded by Arts Council England. It was made by Dream Time Creative as part of their 'Am I Not a Woman & a Sister?' project which seeks to tell the stories of Wakefield's Forgotten Women who were directly involved in the Abolition of Slavery.
