This work is part of the project “Random Periods”.
The video depicts a communication process. The chewing gum is being compared to a piece of information throughout the communication process. The information sender has his thoughts and perceptions (information) translated to the chewing gum. Upon receiving the chewing gum, the recipient of information would start chewing to decode, before transmitting the chewing sound back to the sender.
The floating dots covering the screen center appear and disappear in the image, and the ubiquitous and concealed information of a symbolic environment seems to be regularly floating. Audiences can touch and slide to change the trajectories of the dots’ movement, which is a simulation of information decoding.
