Made in 2007 with community in Dunedin NZ, My Body is An Etching explores everyday actions that are indelibly etched into bodies of knowledge.
As we perform movement everyday we assume a kind of expertise or mastery over our bodies. We assume that our actions will be a faithful reproduction taken from the etching of experience. And yet each day we awaken to a body that is subtly different to the body of previous days, marked by living, breathing, thinking, experiencing. And these experiences also leave their mark.
Created during my 2007 Caroline Plummer Community Dance Fellowship with the support of the Plummer Family and Otago University.
