For my Advanced Animation class (DTC435) we were asked to make a 30 second public service announcement for an issue that affects the Pacific Northwest.
One of the biggest issues in Washington State is bad driving. Something as simple as using a turn signal is often forgotten, and even if it is a small thing to forget, it could cause disasters. In the United States there are more turn signal related accidents than “distracted driving” accidents. That’s insane! More people are getting hurt from not blinking a light than texting and driving.
I created this video to be more of a satire, with inspiration coming from my boyfriend. Whenever we are out together and someone doesn’t use their turn signal when they needed to, he will say something like, “maybe blinkers didn’t come on that model of car”, or “their blinker fluid probably ran out, happens all the time.” I hope this video is intriguing because of the sarcasm, and will help remind everyone that using your turn signal is not a waste of time.
For this video all of the imagery, could design, and animation was created by me, Natalie Quinn, and the narration was done by Sean Malmberg.
