Denver Digerati presents Qinru Zhang's "Future Wonderland" for our January rotation on the 16th and Arapahoe LED screen in Denver, with support from the Denver Theatre District and Orange Barrel Media.

Created by the artist for Digital Daily, Zhang provided the following statement about the animation: "Our future is based on technology. Humans invent new, exploit current, and discard old technologies. Technology is essential—calling, emailing, driving—we live upon it. Technology is dangerous—hacking, surveilling, gaming—they lure us into the desire to cross borders. Technology is unwanted—uncanny robots, automation, weapons—humans fear that the overdevelopment of technology would threaten humanity. In Adolfo Bioy Casares’ The Invention of Morel, technology blurs the boundary between reality and fantasy, describing the intricate emotions and frustrations people hold towards the organic lives that vanish quickly and the ever-lasting imagery played by a projector. Hoping for the peaceful co-existence of the organic and the inanimate, is there a utopia depicting the mere mutualistic symbiosis between humans and technology?"
