“Natural state” is an experiment in progress for which the internal structure of several honeycombs of the Apis honeybee was transformed. Inside the honey comb, the hexagonal wax cells are replaced by wefts. Leads to the transformation of geometries by human action and intervention. Thus, a parallelism is built between elements set up by man and pre-existing natural structures. Its purpose is to induce bees to a construction line different from their biological cycle, imposing foreign and non-natural structures.
In this clip, we can see that with the collaboration of the artist and a group of beekeepers in the suburban areas of Havana. The bee’s habitat were moved from their original one to artificial honeycombs made of methacrylate and are covered with wax. All of them present internal geometric reticules of visual diversity, inspired by the conceptual interpretation of referents such as favela, prisons, urban plots, polygraph, aircraft carriers, and many more.
